My name is Amanda Kelley, a board-certified physician and professional proofreader with years of experience providing proofreading and editing expertise to peers on various document types, including essays, websites (like this one!), emails, PowerPoint presentations, scientific papers, books, and more. I am extremely detail-oriented, and I will do whatever it takes to make your document shine!

I am open to proofreading and editing most types of documents and genres of writing. In fact, in my spare time, I proofread as a volunteer for Distributed Proofreaders (DP), a website founded in 2000 with the purpose of digitalizing  books available in the public domain. All digitalized books are then posted to Project Gutenberg. I have proofread many different genres of books on DP, including the following:

ALL document sizes are welcome!  The prices below are based on word count, writing quality, and the overall complexity of your document.

Basic Proofreading Package (STARTING AT ONE (1) CENT per word)

Includes one round of proofreading, which focuses on:

• Grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors
  
• Double words ("the the," "and and," etc.)
  
• Missing words and typos
  
• Formatting issues
  

Important Note: The Basic Proofreading Package is strictly for those needing only a final review of their document for the errors listed above. It does NOT include working on sentence structure, suggestions on word usage, or fact checking. If you need any of these additional services, please select the Light Copyediting Package below.

Light Copyediting Package (STARTING AT TWO (2) CENTS per word)

Designed to polish up your work while leaving your "personal voice" intact.

Includes everything in the Basic Proofreading Package, plus:

• Review of sentence structure
  
• Overall flow and consistency
  
• Suggestions on word usage
  
• Basic fact checking (but NOT for plagiarism)
  
• Check for working hyperlinks
  

GENERAL TURNAROUND TIME AND STYLE GUIDE USAGE:

I always strive to proofread your documents and return them to you as quickly as possible. However, I ask that you allow for a 24- to 48-hour turnaround time.  Longer documents, such as books, grants, and scientific documents, will require more time; the time frame for completion of these documents will be determined during contract negotiation.

In the event that you need a document completed in less than 24 hours, extra fees will apply based on the length and difficulty of the document needing to be proofread.

I primarily follow the Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS) guidelines, but I am willing and able to use other style manuals, depending on your specific needs. All proofreading/copyediting is typically completed in Microsoft Word using the Track Changes feature.
